Today is the beginning of a weeklong camp for cancer fighters and survivors. I am blessed to join 10 amazing survivors along with volunteers for a week of outdoor adventures through the non-profit Epic Experience. Participants learn to kayak, stand up paddleboard, horseback ride, and many other surprises. If you ever enjoyed the fun, exciting, and stress- free experience of camp as a kid, think about being there as an adult.
Each camp grants me the opportunity to watch participants jump into adventures and push themselves beyond cancer to live life in the moment.  I am perpetually inspired by these survivors and their strength to tackle anything that comes in their way. I have witnessed campers transform from disheartened to impassioned. I have been thanked by family members for bringing vitality back to their loved one. I have watched camp give people the drive to enjoy life again and say “screw cancer, let’s have some fun!”   I hope to help Epic raise enough money to continue their camps and the positive impact they have on cancer survivors.
I will be kayaking the Shoshone run on the Colorado River from sun up to sun down on Sunday, October 6th. It is a class III/IV section of river that is 2 miles in length. My goal is to run it 20 times; my record so far is 7 laps. I have recruited a team that I named Puppy Power to help with the fundraising efforts.
